Not more then a few hours drive lies one of the fascinating cultures on earth in the last 5,000 years. The Nile valley is the cradle of Pharaonic Egyptian

culture and one of the birth places of Jewish monotheism if one reads the bible. These routs forms interweaving connections which are part of Jewish and Israeli culture, history and inheritance.

Jews were settled along Egypt’s borders during the  Persian rule of Egypt. In the Hellenistic period the Jews had important settlements in Alexandria and the Delta.

Although the Jewish centers were hit during the first and Diaspora revolts (60-70 AD, 115-117 AD ) they lasted throughout most of Egypt’s history and we almost extinct only with the creation of the state of Israel.

The history of the Jews in Egypt can be told only in sight of the vast reaches of this great oasis, the biggest in the world watered by the great Nile.

Until the early 70/w of the 20th century the Nile was taking silt and organic materials in his thousands of kilometers flow from the heart of Africa and laying the materials, carried with the currents along the East Mediterranean beaches from Alexandria to Haifa bay.

And similarly, the historical currents of Egypt hold tremendous influence on this little land north of it that became so influential on the world history.

Saying that, thought the guide try to shine the Jewish Israeli ties, Egypt don’t really needs the Jews and most travelers are not aware of this points because of: Pyramids, temples, Mosques, markets, museums, graveyards, endless dunes, rock deserts, corals, palm groves, papayas, sugar canes, water buffaloes, the Delta canals and the endless sea of faces in Cairo should be  enough for a reasonable person to catch a bus, ferry or plan and go traveling in the land that was one of the ancient centers of wisdom still is a beating heart of the Suni Muslim world with El Azhar-  its oldest university surrounded by magnificent mosques and markets. The border between glorious past and dense present is a thing worth feeling. Certainly for an Israeli who lives inside a conflict with the Arab World.

Egypt is mostly a humane creation living on the water of the Nile, in the center of two deserts. Two seas. And Sinai.
