Here of all places, in this nightmarish and fragmented world, with the shadow of war hanging over it, a gentle and touching love story is woven between a naive soldier and a mysterious young girl. With tense restraint, using non-judgemental language clean from emotional flourishes, sketched with fine lines, Shezaf creates a believable weave whose transparency is not at the expense of its depth and richness.
